We are officially the number 1 squadron on the Merseyside Wing out of 30 squadrons for smallbore shooting!
Here at 310 we have fantastic shooting facilities, not only do we have access to wing shooting events at venues such as Altcar, we have unlimited access to a local shooting range in which we can practice to perfection!
Skill with the rifle is recognised by marksmanship badges:
Region Marksman
Wing Marksman
Squadron Marksman
Corps Marksman
N.R.A. Cadet Hundred
The No8 rifle itself is a nice, simple weapon - ideal for training. The sights are simple iron-sights and it operates with a manually fed bolt action.
This rifle is a modified version of the British Forces' SA80 rifle specifically for cadet use.The L98A2 cannot be fired on the Squadron's range, due to its calibre, and so must be fired on RAF barrack ranges or outdoor ranges, such as Sealand Ranges. This rifle operates with a magazine of rounds (not manually fed) and is semi-automatic.
